10:30 pm.\u00a0 We finished giving baby Claire a bath.\u00a0 I’ve been putting off writing a blog entry for almost a full week for obvious reasons.\u00a0 It’s time to sit down and come up with some type of cathartic bullshit to feel better after the garbage that was Michigan’s opening weekend.\u00a0 But first I decide to procrastinate a little longer with a cigar and a Scotch on the back patio.\u00a0 Write drunk, edit sober as they say… probably..<\/p>\n

I decide to let Malcolm (our dog) out with me to enjoy a cool September night.\u00a0 As per usual, he’s wrapped his chain around the fire pit and a couple of chairs so it barely reaches the grass.\u00a0 I decide to untangle it fully so he has maximum use of the yard.\u00a0 I cut the cigar, light it, and sit down to ponder how to start this week’s entry.\u00a0 He takes off towards the corner of the yard as a squirrel bolts in front of him in the same direction.\u00a0 I yell at him to stop in attempt to keep him from whip lashing himself and\/or dragging the fire pit across the yard.\u00a0 He slows down enough to avoid catastrophe.\u00a0 The squirrel gets away.<\/p>\n
Then he zig-zags back towards me shaking his head in repeated violent sneeze-caughs.\u00a0 Foam shoots away from his mouth in larger volume with each consecutive outburst.\u00a0 That was no squirrel.\u00a0 The next hour and a half or so are spent repeatedly rinsing him with a mixture of baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, dish soap, and dog shampoo.\u00a0 It’s a fitting way to recreate the mood after last weekends football performance.<\/p>\n
Last year the Big Ten was the best conference in the country.\u00a0 That they were left out of the playoffs because they beat the hell out if each other in the regular season was a testament to how stupid the CFP still is.\u00a0 The undefeated (shut up!) bowl season confirmed this.\u00a0 This year…<\/p>\n
Like… I was expecting Hunters on Legendary and got more Jackals on Heroic.<\/span><\/div>\n Elswehere, Penn State needed a 4th down conversion and overtime to beat THAT Sun Belt team…\u00a0 MSU struggled against Iowa State..\u00a0 But then again, they always look bad in early games against bad teams… That’s a side effect of saving your entire offensive playbook for the U-M game… Sometimes it causes you to barely beat bad teams.\u00a0 Sometimes it causes you to go 3-9 (If you think that’s a cheap shot at MSU, it’s not… I’m saying that even with THAT team and all of the BS that happened on and off the field, they shouldn’t have gone 3-9…)\u00a0 Also Utah State is probably a little better than people thought.\u00a0 Illinois scared a bunch of you by barely beating Kent State, but we knew they would suck.\u00a0 Nebraska didn’t even get to play… The Northwestern Purdue game was pretty good.<\/p>\n Maybe it’s week one and college football is to unpredictable to.. predict..
