9/29/2022 This is going to go well…

So… I’ve been trying to figure out a way to write more content without pissing off all of my loyal reader. I took a week off, pondered my options, weighed the consequences of the different approaches… I’ve thought long and hard about this. And.. well.. I think I’ve come up with a solution.

Wow Michigan State sucks. I mean, sure, maybe Minnesota is the only team in the Big Ten West that isn’t a dumpster fire, and yes, Washington is certainly better than the D3 Highschool teams that Michigan scheduled the first three weeks, but did they really improve that much in a year? How the hell did MSU go 11-2 last year? How do you go from that to uh… not that in 1 year? Well: No*, Kenneth Walker, injuries and no secondary** Now I bet you’re thinking “Wow. I can’t believe your risking life-long friendships with MSU fans for some not-even-that-good content.” Well, this is you.

If you had been paying attention over the last billion years of college football you might understand how the Michigan/Michigan State Rivalry works. You see, the more one-sided the match up is supposed to be, or more importantly, the more one-sided Michigan fans SAY the matchup will be, the stronger MSU will be on gameday. What I’ve just done is pumped the Disrespekt tanks buried under every East Lansing farm full of fuel. Dantonio is about to reveal that he’s spent the last 3 years in solitude working on a brilliant gameplan specifically tailored to beat Michigan using plays that they probably should have deployed against, you know… other teams. MSU will win on a last second Pick-Safety as Mike Sainristill makes a brilliant interception but then a gust of wind blows him all the way back to the end-zone. So it’s my U-M friends that should be furious with me… Thanksgiving is gonna be awkward this year huh Brandon?

On a serious note though.  I’m not sure what the rest of MSU’s season will look like.  Minnesota might actually be pretty good.  I could see Maryland’s offense putting on a clinic against that secondary but with Taulia and Jarrett questionable, who knows.  They’ve had some horrible injury luck the last few seasons and it hasn’t gotten better this year.  I don’t think getting guys back this year would fix that secondary, but it certainly doesn’t help.  From what I understand, they ARE doing a great job with NIL and have gotten a few key DB recruits.  I think it’s going to be a rough couple of weeks for the Spartans and there’s already been jokes about Mel’s contract, but I wouldn’t judge them quite yet.  It is only his second real season in a program that he really has to rebuild.

Moving on:  How is 1-3 Nebraska favored against 3-1 Indiana?  Does Vegas think that 2 weeks without Scott Frost is enough to learn how to win a 1 score game?***  Northwestern… wow.  They’ve now lost to Duke, S Illinois, and Miami(OH).  And they’re still technically tied for first in the Big Ten West!  You know.. because they beat NEBRASKA!  After blowing out Nebraska in week 3, Oklahoma went on to lose Kansas State.  Yay Huskers.  Iowa’s defense has now outscored their own offense in 50% of their games this year.  Purdue continues to try win games by being as undisciplined and stupid as possible in the 4th quarter.  I can’t say that it’s a good strategy, but it’s probably fun?  Happy football everybody!

*Washington IS better than last year, but not essentially blow out #11 in the country better.

**Or hire Rich Rodriguez

***Probably… but not if you’re still Nebraska.
